Charles William Green Jr., 80, Nappanee, died unexpectedly at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Room.
He has dealt with diabetes and heart conditions for many years.
He was born Oct. 6, 1935 in Clarksville, Tenn. to Charlie and Ruby (Streetman) Green. He married Retha Kowalczyk Feb. 3, 1969 in Nappanee at the Nazarene Church. He retired from Vitreous Steel in 2013. Charles was known as “Antique Charlie.” He liked cars-gasoline and steam engines.
Surviving are his wife, Retha; daughters: Jeanie Woods, Carol Sue, Kansas City, Mo.; and Tonya (Craig) Shupert, Osceola; sons, Charles Eugene “Chuck Jr.” Green, LaPorte; and Mark Green, Nappanee; stepsons: Rex Kowalczyk, Atwood; and Mikeal (Misty) Harris, Savannah, Tenn.; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; brothers: Pete (Pat) Green, Ligonier; and Frank (Joan) Green, Milford; sister, Elizabeth (Lonnie) Spencer, Va.; half sister: Jane (Miller) Dermott, Bremen; and half brother, Jimmy (Shirley) Wallace, Bremen.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rick L. Green; grandson, Kevin Shupert; brother, John Green; and parents, Charlie and Ruby Green.
Family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, July 28 and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service on Friday, July 29, all at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be at Stony Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
