Noel Gene George, 81, of Nappanee, died surrounded by his family at 12:41 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at his home after a short illness. He was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Nappanee to Truman Donald and Wilma (Yoder) George.
Noel was a lifetime area resident and graduated from Nappanee High School. He married Shelba Jean Foltz, who preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 1994. He then spent 23 amazing years with Judy Corl, and she preceded him in death on March 5, 2018.
Mr. George was a farmer. He also had worked as a logger until an accident on June 17, 1967. Noel had a love for horses. He grew up with them and spent as much time as he could with all of the horses and ponies in his pasture. He loved to sit, drink coffee and reminisce with old friends. Noel was a member of Living Gospel Church where he attended after he was baptized and started following the Lord.
Surviving are his children, Vicky (Gary) McMaster, Goshen, Brenda Whitehead, Nappanee, Tye George, Pasco, Wash., Kelly (Dean) Rentfrow, Bristol, Kirk (Lindsey) Corl, Scott Corl, both of Elkhart; grandchildren, Kyle Whitehead, Lindsay Yoder, Tommy George, Leslie Lentz, Alyssa Rubio, Nic Davis, Kaitlyn Corl, Emerson Corl, Connor Corl, Daniele Alexander; and brother, Vance George, San Francisco. He was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Burkhardt.
Due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19, private graveside services will be held. A Celebration of Life Service will be planned at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to Living Gospel Church.
