Esther J. Hochstetler, 83, of Bremen, died at 5:25 pm, Saturday, September 12, 2020, at her residence. She was born September 12, 1937, in Middlebury to Jerry and Emma (Eash) Hostetler. On Sept. 4, 1958, she married John Henry Hochstetler in Middlebury. He preceded her in death De. 29, 2011.
She lived her lifetime in this area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Ervin) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Sarah (Mahlon Lee) Bontrager, Nappanee, Etta (Morris) Miller, Milford, Nora (Arlin) Hershberger, Barbara (Merle) Hershberger, Laura (Lyle) Yoder, all of Nappanee, Sharon (Jerry) Kuhns, Bremen, Esther (Dale) Borkholder, New Paris, Ruth (Norman) Borkholder, Bremen; sons, Howard (Sharon) Hochstetler, Johnnie (Brenda) Hochstetler, both of Bremen; 65 grandchildren; 121 great-grandchildren; brother, Jacob (Sylvia) Hostetler, Bremen; sisters, Rachel Hochstetler, Nappanee, Anna Ard, Houston, Texas, Susie (Wilbur) Hochstetler, Charlotte, Mich., Lucy Fry, Martha (Don) Haab, both of Syracuse, Emma (Ervin) Troyer, LaGrange, Amelia Fry, Shipshewana; and sister-in-law, Deb Hostetler, Nappanee.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, David Lee Hochstetler; grandson, Matthew Lee Yoder; Great Grandson, Elija Jace Helmuth; brothers, Levi, Henry, Amos, Jerry Jr. Hostetler; sisters, Fannie Hostetler, Lizzie Ann Borkholder; brothers-in-law, Edward Hochstetler, Olen Fry, Levi Fry, Joseph Borkholder; and sisters-in-law, Edna (Levi) Hostetler, Edna (Henry) Hostetler, and Ruth Hostetler.
Family and friends may call after 2 pm, Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, and all day Monday, Sept. 14 at the Jerry Kuhns residence, 2641 Beech Rd. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 am, Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Kuhns residence. The Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
