Isaac J. Borkholder

Isaac J. Borkholder, 89, Nappanee, died from injuries received in a fall, at 4:49 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Room. 

He was born Feb. 20, 1928 in Nappanee to John R. and Fannie I. (Yoder) Borkholder. He lived his lifetime in this area.  On Nov. 10, 1955, he married Dorothy Yoder.

Mr. Borkholder was a retired farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Mr. Borkholder is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Merlin I. (Brenda) Borkholder, Keith A. (Pauline) Borkholder, both of Bremen, JoEllen (Robert) Chupp, Nappanee, Miriam (Vernon M.) Miller, Milford, Jonathan (Frieda) Borkholder, Nappanee, Mattie (Devon Ray) Miller, Middlebury; 29 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sisters, Anna Graber, Lagrange, Laura Miller, Nappanee, Edna Miller, Bremen; half brothers, Raymond (Fannie) Burkholder, Middlefield, OH, John J.R. (Fannie) Burkholder, Jonas (Ellen) Burkholder, both of Clymer, NY; step brother, Daniel (Betty) Burkholder, Middlefield, OH; and step sister, Mary Ann Miller, Clymer, NY.  He was preceded in death by grandsons, Andrew Miller, Joseph Borkholder; brothers, Andrew, Ira, Nathaniel Borkholder; sisters, Clara Borkholder, Mary Schrock; step brothers, William Burkholder, Owen Burkholder; and step sister, Laura Byler.

Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 and all day Thursday, May 25 at the family residence.  Funeral  services will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 26 also at the family residence. Officiating will be the Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
