Edwin J. Yoder

Edwin J. Yoder, 88, Nappanee, died at 6:48 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at the home of his daughter, Edward and Nancy Miller of Nappanee, due to natural causes.  

He was born July 17, 1928 to Jonas and Nancy (Slabaugh) Yoder. Mr. Yoder was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and a retired farmer.

On Jan. 19, 1950, he married Edna Kuhns, who preceded him in death Sept. 5, 2008. His second marriage was to Barbara (Mast) Miller on Oct. 27, 2010.  She survives, along with his children: Katherine (Atlee) Yoder, Middlebury; Galen (Theresa ) Yoder, Montgomery; Laura (John) Eicher, Wakarusa; Fannie (Chris) Yoder, Nappanee; Nancy (Edward) Miller, Nappanee; Stanley (Anita) Yoder, Etna Green; daughters-in-law: Linda Yoder, Shipshewana; Irene Yoder, Phoenix, Ariz.; step-daughter: Roeleta (Glen) Borkholder, Nappanee; 41 grandchildren, 85 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; brother, Elmer (Carolyn) Yoder, Goshen; sisters: Mary (Levi) Chupp, Etna Green; Martha (Walter) Miller, Nappanee; Elizabeth (Lamar) Hochstetler, Nappanee; and sister-in-law, Barbara Yoder, Nappanee. 

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Edna; sons, LaVerne Yoder, Omer Yoder; daughter-in-law, Marla Yoder; three stillborn grandchildren; a stillborn great grandchild; and brothers, Ivan and Melvin Yoder.

Family and friends may call after 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26 and all day Monday at Stanley Yoder’s residence (8370 N St. Rd. 19). Funeral services will begin at 9:30 am, Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Arden Schwartz residence (8145 N. St. Rd. 19).  Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Graber Cemetery.
