Marjorie Eleanor (Huffer, Peltier) Miller, 96, Nappanee, died at 11:20 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 8, 1920 in Kosciusko County to Charles W. and Dessie M. (Gall) Huffer.
Mrs. Miller was a lifetime Etna Green and Nappanee area resident. She was a 1938 graduate of Etna Green High School. Her first marriage was to Gordon “Dutch” Peltier Oct. 5, 1940. They were divorced and he preceded her in death. Her second marriage was to Robert B. Miller Feb. 1, 1970 in Nappanee. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1999.
Mrs. Miller had worked at Nappanee Water Filter Company and Mutschler Brothers and was a homemaker. Eleanor always enjoyed family, music, and traveling. As a child, Eleanor attended Millwood Chapel. She had attended First Mennonite Church and more recently attended Union Center Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her children: Donald C. Peltier, Westville; Nancy (Tom) Mishler, Nappanee; grandchildren: Donald Disher Jr., James Disher, Rosa Shultz, Lance Peltier, Nichole Miller, Brant Mishler, Brock Mishler; eight great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. A daughter, Joanne Disher preceded her in death. Also surviving are brother, Wally Huffer, Woodland, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and stepdaughters: Gloria (Jack) Miller, Pierceton; Julie Kling, Bremen.
She was also preceded in death by sister, Helen Frushour; brothers, Gene “Tex” Huffer, Marshall Huffer, and Stanley Huffer.
Family and friends may call from 2-8 Thursday, Dec. 1 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 2 at Union Center Church of the Brethren. Revs. Frank Ramirez and Rhonda Dorn will officiate. Burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.
