Wilma Irene Hochstetler

Wilma Irene Hochstetler, 92, Nappanee, died at 12:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Goshen Health Hospital.

She was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Marshall County, to Andrew and Katie (Yoder) Slabaugh.

Wilma was a homemaker and had worked at Evangel Press, Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen, and GCI Inc. in Nappanee.  She married Jesse E. Hochstetler May 30, 1943 in Marshall County. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 2015.

She and Jesse have been members of the Brethren in Christ Church in Nappanee since 1948.

Surviving Wilma are children: Paul (Randy Colburn) Hochstetler of South Bend; Esther Burdette of Charleston, S.C.; Lamar (LeAnn) Hochstetler of Nappanee; Wayne (Marilyn) Hochstetler of Fort Collins, Colo.; Shirley (James) Cox of Rosman, N.C.; and Darrel (Diane) Hochstetler of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister Inez Helmuth of Goshen.

Wilma was preceded in death by her son, Devon Hochstetler; a grandson; siblings: Lydia Ann Miller, Katie Walters, Edna Mast-Yoder, Mary Stutzman, Fannie Slabaugh, Cora Martin, and Delbert and Elmer Slabaugh.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral services at The Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday, Oct. 29. Rev. Jeff Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Center East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Galilean Children’s Home (712 S. Fork Church Rd., Liberty, KY, 42539) or Navajo BIC Mission, (240 Highway 57 Bloomfield, NM, 87413).
