1369327_profile_picVickie J. Prater, 52, of Nappanee, Ind., died unexpectedly at 8:44 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Ind., of natural causes. 

She was born Aug. 14, 1961, in Dowagiac, Mich., to Edward and Rojean Hines.

Vickie was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God. She was also a member of The Eagles Lodge and The Warsaw Moose Lodge. She enjoyed hummingbirds and was an Elvis fan.

Surviving is her longtime companion: Dennis Brown; daughters: Barbie Burchett, Langley, Ky.; Jennifer Renea Utter, Rochester, Ind.; sons: Leroy Prater, Langley, Ky.; and Benjamin Hively; many grandchildren; her mother: Rojean Hines, Key Largo, Fla.; sisters: Linda Rasnak, Kendallville, Ind.; Cindy Jordon, Warsaw; Mary Ann Swoverland, Evansvillle, Ind.; Penny Miller, Goshen, Ind.; a brother: Mike Hines, Key Largo, Fla.; children of Dennis, Doug Brown, David Brown and Danielle Miller, all of Nappanee.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Jeremy Grueser officiating. Cremation will take place. Internment will be in Akron Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mt. Tabor Church of God.
