Phyllis Eileen Rohrer

Phyllis Eileen Rohrer, 90, formerly of Nappanee, died at 3:24 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa. She was born on Nov. 3, 1930, in Goshen, to Andrew Walter and Isabelle (Polmateer) Hunsperger. She married Richard Rohrer on April 20, 1951, at Goshen Nazarene Church in Goshen. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2008.

She was a graduate of Goshen High School. She worked at the House of Harter in Goshen as a designer for sporting goods. She also worked as a self-taught artist at Amish Acres and Pletcher’s Furniture Store. She also enjoyed painting and quilting.  Her talents are displayed in the stained glass in the Chapel at Nappanee Missionary Church.

She is survived by her sons, David Rohrer of Plymouth; Stephen (Patty) Rohrer of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Emily (Christian) Jomez and Sean (Mercedes) Rohrer; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie and William Rohrer; a sister, Catherine Myers of Nappanee. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Cynthia Jo Rohrer; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Rohrer; three sisters, Theda Wassmaun, Miriam Boomershine, and Carolyn Hershberger.

Family and friends may call Monday, Aug. 23, from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel at Nappanee Missionary Church, as well as from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24 in the Worship Center at Nappanee Missionary Church, prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Jason Rhode. Burial will take place following the funeral services at Union Center East Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Faith Mission of Elkhart in memory of Phyllis Rohrer.
